ANIMAL CONTROL
- You will need to call Animal Control at 762-0453. This number is answered by voice mail. Please leave your information as the Animal
Control Officers work from the messages and they will respond to your call. The address is 2530 Arizona and the shelter is open Mon-Fri 2:00 to 4:00 pm or call to schedule an adoption.
- Animal Emergencies are vicious dog attacks in progress or animals accidentally entangled, caught, snared or trapped. If you have
an animal emergency please call 911. Likewise stray dogs are not considered emergencies and may not receive a response from animal control after normal business hours
- Yes, City Ordinance 1651 states that all dogs shall be securely confined on a leash when the dog is outside its legal confinement IE
Inside, Outside in a fence / Pen. Pet owners should also be aware that they may be held financially responsible for damage or injuries their dog causes.
- Yes, the city requires all dogs be spayed or neutered unless the owner has a breeders license.
- Yes, the limit is 5 dogs. Litters of puppies may temporarily exceed this limit. The owner of a litter of puppies must have a breeders
permit.
- Yes, city dog tags/license are available through each local vet and can be issued during the yearly vaccine. Tags/License are
available through the City Collectors office for a fee.
- If you go to the ER/Doctors office they will contact the police department so you can file a report. If you don't go to the ER/Doctor
you can file a dog bite report with the Police Department yourself.
Typically if you report that your neighbor's dog keeps you awake all night we will attempt to make a courtesy contact with the neighbor and ask him to help with the situation. Please keep in mind that there is no law against the dog barking all night. Hopefully your neighbor is courteous and willing to work with us to alleviate the situation. .
